Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre has no reason to be ashamed to finally find herself alongside Chambonnière and Couperin in the discography dedicated to the harpsichord of the 17th century. This is what the scholarly booklet of this new record teaches us. An unknown composer today, she nevertheless enjoyed a great reputation during her lifetime. And for good reason, her inspired compositions exploit all the registers of the harpsichord, giving breadth to her works. In this second solo album, Marie van Rhijn continues the exploration of the Grand Siècle on a very beautiful period harpsichord, the same as that of the previous recording. Inspired by her program, the musician extends one of the minuets of a double of her composition, in the manner of Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre of course. By doing so, she shows that this repertoire is still relevant.
