Voyage à Reims ou l'hôtel du Lys d'Or

Description

The great writer Stendhal wrote about Il viaggio a Reims: “this opera is a feast.” The plot is a contemporary farce tailor-made for a special occasion — the festivities for the coronation of Charles X — Rossini valued the music so highly that he reused much of the score three years later in the opera Le Comte Ory. With a cast of 10 principal roles and 8 supporting roles, this sparkling work is presented here for the first time in its entirety.
