Kontrapoetik

Description

"Kontrapoetik" is a quest that is both very personal and historical, addressing the troubling past of the composer Maria W Horn's hometown, Ångermanland in northern Sweden, and her own project of fighting against exorcism. By drawing on archives from the region, she taps directly into the conflict of this stronghold of the labor movement with the Swedish army in the 1930s, which resulted in 5 deaths and nearly sparked a revolution. The musical territories explored by Horn on Kontrapoetik are vast, but at the heart of each piece lies a fundamental element of reductionist technique.
