Conjuratio

Description

Le Ricercar Consort in a serious and profound work by Weckmann. In 1663, a terrible plague epidemic decimated the city of Hamburg, taking away many friends, colleagues, and the wife of the city's main musician: Matthias Weckmann. These tragic events inspired him to create visionary compositions, based on biblical texts evoking desolation, abandonment, destruction but also struggle and hope.
