Exceptional reissue meticulously restored in 24-bit/96Hz, produced by Abbey Road Studios from the original tapes. Like the roles of Lucia di Lammermoor and Elvira (The Puritans), that of Amina - the charming heroine of La Somnambule - was often associated with light coloratura voices. When Luchino Visconti staged the work for Callas in 1955 at La Scala, the soprano brought to the character a new substance as well as an unsuspected subtlety.
