Exceptional reissue meticulously restored in 24-bit/96Hz, produced by Abbey Road Studios from the original tapes. Before her Venetian triumph in 1949 in Elvira from Bellini's I Puritani, a role usually assigned to light coloratura voices and which she approached under the direction of conductor Tullio Serafin, Maria Callas had rather established herself in characters with a strong epic and dramatic content, such as the title role in Die Walküre. This success in Bellini's final opera anchored her in the firmament of bel canto stars.
