Exceptional reissue meticulously restored in 24-bit/96Hz, produced by Abbey Road Studios from the original tapes. In 1939, in Athens, Maria Callas, a 15-year-old student at the time, made her debut in the demanding role of Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana. Five years later, having become a professional singer, she performed it as part of a show by the Greek National Opera company. In 1953, almost a star, just about to record the role of Tosca, conductor Tullio Serafin hired her at the last minute to replace an unwell colleague, initially scheduled for a recording session at La Scala, dedicated to Mascagni's one-act opera: this recording elevates the heroic verismo singing to new heights.Buy Cavalleria rusticana at the best price
