This recital brings together 3 operas composed by Verdi during his youth ("Nabucco", "Ernani" and "Macbeth") and one of the most accomplished works of his maturity ("Don Carlo"). Apart from "Ernani", Callas performed each of these roles on stage, and she triumphed in the role of Lady MacBeth at the opening of the La Scala theater season in December 1952.
