Big Crown Records is proud to present Glera, the first album by Marco Benevento on the label. Marco Benevento has always approached musical creation as a complete instrument, rather than just a space where instruments are stored. Long before sharing the stage with Freddie Gibbs and Madlib, and contributing to the liner notes of albums by Clairo and Leon Bridges, Benevento was already thinking like a producer: listening to textures, tensions, silences, and that strange emotional alchemy that arises from the meeting of groove and curiosity. His new album, Glera, sharpens this instinct and reveals Benevento not only as a virtuosic keyboardist and conductor but also as a composer who builds universes from rhythm, timbre, and emotion. Glera is a jazz album that transcends genres, integrating soul and deep reggae bass into a limitless exploration of possibilities. This project began three years ago as a personal exercise, with Benevento composing intuitively, inspired by film music and Italian melodies. Over time, these sketches evolved into a larger and more powerful work, culminating in the grand majesty heard here. The result is music with cinematic fluidity, never falling into the precious. The tracks evoke chase scenes or crossfades, sometimes within the same song, where jazz improvisation meets reggae groove, orchestral elements, and a psych-pop atmosphere. It is exploratory music but grounded in reality, complex yet resolutely groovy. A record that embodies movement, evolving the past without ever stopping.
