Marc Berthoumieux presents his seventh album, which is also his second Live album. After the warm reception of the 2020 album Les Couleurs d’ici - Live, the accordionist delved back into his archives and offers us an unreleased track from 2014 recorded in complete intimacy during a private concert in a beautiful hidden estate in Poitou. That year, Marc Berthoumieux performed with Giovanni Mirabassi and Laurent Vernerey. They played all over France, but also in Russia (Nakhodka and Philharmonie de Vladivostok) and in Korea (Seoul). In this recording, they notably revisit the track El Astor (2004) composed in tribute to Astor Piazzolla and some tracks from the album In Other Words released in 2011 featuring themes by Michel Petrucianni, Pat Metheny, Sting, Elton John, as well as this timeless melody by Philippe Sarde for Claude Sautet's film, Les Choses de la Vie, which gives its title to this new opus. We know the lyricism, virtuosity, and authenticity of Giovanni Mirabassi, this unique artist with whom Marc Berthoumieux has enjoyed sharing the stage for over ten years. Are we sufficiently aware of the extraordinary musicality of Laurent Vernerey? Best known for the thousand albums he has participated in, he is surely the most sought-after bassist in French music production over the past twenty-five years. This trio exercise reveals him once again remarkably. The release of Les Choses de la Vie not only gives this trio the opportunity to reform on stage but also becomes one of Marc Berthoumieux's flagship projects for the upcoming season.
