At the beginning of the 20th century, all roads lead to Paris. It is there that the World Exposition takes place, where Ernest Hemingway and Kandinsky settle, where Proust writes his Recherche and Cocteau his Machine infernale, where the Russian Ballets revolutionize dance and where Debussy, Satie, and Stravinsky cause a scandal. It is this scent of renewal that violinist Manon Galy and pianist Jorge González Buajasán capture in this recording, their first as a duo. Eloquent in the sonatas and pieces by Debussy, Ravel, Poulenc, and Milhaud that are featured, they provide a glimpse of the modernity and boldness of this French music from the early 20th century.
