Crystal Logic

Description

Manilla Road is an extraordinary band, blending warrior Heavy Metal, monolithic Doom, and progressive influences in the style of King Crimson. In its early days, the band was part of the NWOBHM movement while already asserting a unique identity, and with Crystal Logic, it delivered a classic of the genre characterized by a Viking atmosphere, dark riffs, and the nasal voice of Mark Shelton. Accessible and straightforward, the album serves as an excellent entry point, despite the presence of the long and epic "Dreams Of Eschaton / Epilogue," while tracks like "Necropolis," "Flaming Metal System," and "Feeling Free Again" stand out as essential. Some heavier pieces already hint at the forthcoming Doom directions, and although it initially went unnoticed in the shadow of Black Sabbath, Crystal Logic is now regarded as a cornerstone of metal.
