After the European Hanseatic Ensemble, under the direction of Manfred Cordes, made a stop in Stralsund in 2023, the journey now leads to Gdansk. There too, the traveling company has uncovered many treasures of sacred music from the 17th century; organ pieces, choral movements, fascinating scenes like the battle of Archangel Michael against his adversary... Once again, the image of a turbulent era presents itself to us, in which faith had to be strengthened, particularly through the spirit of music. However, what happened behind the scenes is thought-provoking – the story of how good Christians and accomplished artists conspired to force each other to leave their positions is the stuff of historical novels.
