This record dedicated to Holy Week and the solemnity of Easter is the second installment in a series featuring the major liturgical moments at Notre-Dame de Paris. The Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris aims to elevate the repertoire of sacred music as well as congregational singing through an implementation of absolute precision and remarkable quality of execution. This discographic project thus embodies the desire to offer the public both a collectible item that enhances heritage and a beautiful musical medium that allows one to relive or discover this journey towards Easter in the unique spirit and atmosphere of the Cathedral's music. Spanning six centuries and the musical cultures of France, Italy, and Germany, the album includes the last polyphonic work performed at Notre-Dame before the fire devastated the great cathedral, amidst the preparations for Easter. Alongside the famous pieces by composers who have stood the test of time (Monteverdi, Lotti, Duruflé, Hassler, and Franck), there are also works by 21st-century composers (Lise Borel, Yves Castagnet…) that respond, as if to renew the listening experience.
