Shades Of Blue

Description

Coming from a family of Californian musicians, Madlib grew up surrounded by Jazz and Soul. A true jack-of-all-trades in production, this genius honed his skills at the age of 12 by sampling his father's records, a Jazz trumpeter. In the early 90s, the young producer formed his first group, bringing together rapper friends like his brother Oh No, Kanckick, Medaphore, and Declaime to create the collective C.D.P. In 1993, he collaborated with Tha Alkaholiks, officially launching his career as a producer. In 1995, it was within Lootpack, a group he formed alongside Wildchild and DJ Romes, that Madlib gained recognition and firmly established his career as a producer. In 1998, he signed with Stone Throw, where he would become a driving force and reshape the musical identity of the label. Quickly, the genius operated under several names alongside talented rappers such as Lord Quas (Quasimoto), MF Doom (Madvillain), J Dilla (Jaylib), and Freddie Gibbs (Madgibbs). The following years saw a succession of productions, all equally brilliant, whether for his own projects or for other fine artists in the genre like Erykah Badu or Talib Kweli. Released in 2003, "Shades Of Blue" is considered one of the most beautiful tributes to the legendary Blue Note label. Officially released by Blue Note, "Shades Of Blue" is an opportunity for the producer to showcase his love for Jazz and the great classics of the label. A series of Hip Hop remixes of the label's greatest classics, Madlib respects the groove spirit of the most iconic artists in the genre. Find this gem in a double 180-gram colored Gatefold vinyl edition and indulge in this true masterpiece.
