Winner of the MA Competition in Bruges in 2023, Maciej Skrzeczkowski presents for this recording a program entirely dedicated to John Bull, an English composer who fled his country due to his Roman Catholic faith and moral issues to seek refuge in the Netherlands. In this context, what could be more logical than to use both copies of an English virginal and an instrument typical of the Netherlands, known as the "moeder en kind" (mother and child)? This association between the English style and the musical practice of the Netherlands is also reflected in the music of John Bull, who had been in contact with the Amsterdam organist Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck.
