Inspired by the life and work of Amy Winehouse, Samurai by Lupe Fiasco has proven the unparalleled ability of the veteran rapper to write deeply conceptual rhymes without sacrificing soul. Produced entirely by Soundtrakk, a longtime collaborator, the 8-song project has been widely acclaimed by critics, with praise from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Billboard, and many others for its cerebral lyricism and warm sound palette. On June 27, to mark the first anniversary of Samurai, Lupe unveils Samurai DX, offering two new songs produced by Soundtrakk from the Samurai sessions, "SOS" and "High Note," as well as remixes of the highlights from the original album "Samurai," "Palaces," and "Bigfoot" (now featuring a hook sung by singer-songwriter Troy Tyler). Additionally, the vinyl release of Samurai DX includes instrumental versions of the five songs. Continuing the story of what Lupe Fiasco calls one of his "most personal projects to date," Samurai DX is another remarkable document in the career of one of Chicago's greatest masters of ceremony.
