The son of a conductor himself, this Austrian who died in 2004 remains in history as a rare conductor, very perfectionist as he dedicated an enormous amount of time to immersing himself in a score before deciding to perform it in public. Not to mention a particularly elegant Seventh, his vision of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, so well-known that it paradoxically becomes devoid of meaning, finds under his baton a perfect dynamic, with an astonishing work on the sound palette that is perfectly captured by the record (we are in 1975). Excerpt from the "La Discothèque idéale Fnac" Guide 2016.
