Marek Janowski and the WDR Symphony Orchestra present the 5th and 6th symphonies of Ludwig Van Beethoven. Premiered in public for the first time in 1808, they represent two distinct aspects of the composer's personality. The fifth is famous for its dramatic and urgent nature, while the sixth, better known as the Pastoral, offers more idyllic sounds. Programmed together, they provide a fascinating portrait of the composer. Marek Janowski leads a vast collection of recordings for the Pentatone label, including the complete symphonies of Bruckner and the operas of Wagner. This is his second collaboration with the WDR, one of the most prominent orchestras in Germany.
