IF EVERYTHING IS WRITTEN (vinyl)

Description

Ludovic Louis returns at the start of 2024 with a second album, If Everything Is Written. Time that passes and nourishes. The time when we find ourselves again, the time we make the most of. The time of these notes laid out on scores like an allegory of Ludovic’s already beautiful and full life. After Rebirth, with soul, jazz, funk and Caribbean influences, Ludovic continues his blend of cultures to give this new album a world color, going beyond the instrumentalism of a jazz record with Afro-rock or Afro-beat sounds on Never Give Up or Waves, for example. This openness is also found in the festive universe where Ludovic wants to take us. For this, he lends his voice to accompany certain tracks such as If you Want Me, or Give me some loving, or more restrained ballads like If everything is written performed by Gail Ann Dorsey, friend of the trumpeter and bassist of David Bowie or Matthieu Chedid. The voice as a way to communicate, and to create cohesion with the one who listens and understands. An entertainment to encourage us to join him in his quest for a beautiful life, for those who want to see it. If Everything Is Written is definitely meant to be positive, touched by the nostalgia that marks the first tracks (Sunrise), it feeds on the movement of life and its happy prospects. As far as possible, we can all improve our story and make it beautiful. This story is Ludovic’s. “The events of life shape us and one can find positivity even in something negative ... and for that time is our best ally.” An affirmative, festive album, built over the years (Le temps, Look Back, Love is a Beautiful thing) as a link between past, present and future. Like this track in which Rossy De Palma suspends Le temps and offers us her voice for a poem in French. Ludovic Louis takes us to the party and to encounters in this personal album with raw emotions. The time of a journey for a return to the source, to roots, to family, to friends, to simple and fundamental things.
