Deadline Season

“Deadline Season” is Lucy Liebe’s debut solo album. You might know her as a founding member of Bokoya or have seen her performing live with douniah or Gianni Brezzo. Lucy plays drums, keys, flute, trumpet, guitar, bass, and sings. “Deadline Season” features AKA Kelzz, Coco Elane, garrrog, Giaa, Laíz, Pachakuti, and Rosa Landers. “Deadline Season” came about after Lucy moved from Cologne to Berlin. “I had just moved to Berlin,” she recalls. “I knew I didn't want to continue as I had in Cologne, so I threw myself into it: I texted everyone, sent out track folders, tried to make connections. I also applied for many research positions in LGBTQ+ associations, but without success. However, I did secure funding for my album — and I already had quite a few tracks in the works. Most of the songs were composed spontaneously during sessions with guests I met to create something new.” Musically, “Deadline Season” explores various horizons but always remains relevant and 100% Lucy Liebe. “I like to call it alternative R&B. Maybe it’s just a modern way of talking about neo-soul? My jazz influences are always very present.”
