Down where the spirit meets the bone

Description

Three years after "Blessed" Lucinda Williams returns to the forefront of the country blues scene with her eleventh album "Down Where The Spirit Meets The Bone". Little known in France, American songwriter and singer Lucinda Williams is adored by country blues fans in the United States. Since "Ramblin'" her first album released in 1979, the artist, a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, has been singing her committed lyrics to the rhythms of delta blues, country soul, Cajun rock and acoustic folk. On the 20 tracks of the double album "Down Where The Spirit Meets The Bone" she is joined by Tony Joe White, Greg Leisz, Bill Frisell, Pete Thomas & Davey Faragher (Elvis Costello), Val McCallum (Jackson Brown), Stuart Mathis (Wallflowers), Ian Mclagan (Small Faces) ... "Compassion", which opens the album, is a musical setting of one of her father’s poems, the poet Miller William. The country diva with the gravelly voice also offers us a cover of "Magnolia" by the late JJ Cale.
