Destined to be musicians? The composers that baroque violinist Sophie de Bardonnèche wanted to pay tribute to had very diverse fates: while the name of Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre (1665-1729) has gone down in history, who knows Mlle Duval (born around 1718), the second woman to be heard at the Opéra de Paris, nicknamed "the Legend"? Her opera-ballet, Les Génies, nonetheless demonstrates great mastery… or Anne-Madeleine Guesdon de Presles and Élisabeth-Louise Pellecier, composers married to composers, the latter signing her works under her husband's name, Papavoine… Others are more in the spotlight of the time because they were aristocrats, like Mlle de Menetou (1679-1745)… Ten women composers come back to life thanks to this program of sonatas, overtures, dances, and minuets designed by Sophie de Bardonnèche, a founding member of the Consort, who is releasing her first solo album here, accompanied by her partners Lucile Boulanger and Justin Taylor.
