On July 10, 1998, on the occasion of the FIFA World Cup final, the most famous trio in the world gathered for a concert in Paris. To mark the 25th anniversary of the event, Decca presents a special edition bringing together the original CD album and the complete concert on DVD.
In an exceptional setting at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, José Carreras, Plácido Domingo, and Luciano Pavarotti were joined by the Orchestre de Paris and conductor James Levine for a spectacular evening to see and hear. Alongside essential standards ('O sole mio, Granada, Caruso, Nessun dorma…), the three tenors offer lesser-known titles, such as Maristella by Giuseppe Pietri, Fosca by Antonio Carlos Gomes, or Mémoires de Danton (composed by Plácido Domingo's son). Always arranged by Lalo Schifrin, the pieces sung together provide a multilingual patchwork of arias, melodies, and songs.
This event brought together an audience one hundred times larger than that of Rome in 1990 and achieved a television audience estimated at nearly two billion viewers.
