Pavarotti is undoubtedly the greatest tenor of all time and the most popular classical performer. This year, Decca celebrates 50 years of its exclusive partnership with Pavarotti and presents the double album "Les 50 Triomphes": a superb selection of all his great opera arias - including Nessun Dorma, the official theme of the World Cup in 1990, thanks to which Pavarotti's name is now known to all - as well as the most famous popular songs like O sole mio, Caruso, Santa Lucia, or Volare. A previously unreleased recording will deserve special attention: the first known recording of Pavarotti's voice, the aria Che gelida manina captured at the beginning of his career in 1961 (he was 26 years old!). Highlights of the album also include his duets with international pop stars: Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Bono, Eric Clapton, and Sting, not to mention his colleagues Plácido Domingo and José Carreras in the live version of the Three Tenors performing Nessun Dorma, which has become the best-selling classical recording of all time (15 million copies).
