THE LONG-LOST SONGS - ÉDITION LIMITÉE - VINYLE COULEUR MARRON

Description

THE NEW PROJECT FROM THE BRAIN OF AYREON It's the early 1990s, and master musician Arjen Lucassen is working on several projects: a solo album, a progressive rock opera, and a rock album. Around this time, he attends a concert of singer Robert Soeterboek with Bodine, his former heavy metal band from the early eighties. "His voice really impressed me, a rarity!" Lucassen recalls. "He had the charisma and power of singers like David Coverdale or Robert Plant. Since we got along well, we decided to collaborate on a few songs, just for fun." "We started writing songs together and found a natural flow, which led to a multitude of ideas," Soeterboek remembers. "Our friendship grew as we spent time together, and I remember there was a lot of laughter." The album holds a glorious treasure trove of 11 original songs with an affectionate nod to the 70s and 80s. It's a lightning-fast journey through rock history with "Let It Ride," "Doctor Robert's Medicine Show" has Beatles-esque accents, "Annie Moore" offers bluesy groove, "High-Speed Chase" delivers glam stomp, and "Ice on Fire" brings 80s metal, while "The Preacher" would fit on a number of albums in Arjen's catalog. The bonus disc contains all demos and some new tracks.
