With this new radiant album, Brazilian artist Lucas Santtana hopes to re-enchant our lives on Earth.
For his ninth album, "O Paraíso" (Paradise), the free-spirited heir to Brazilian Tropicália aims to redefine our idea of Paradise. "It's right in front of us; we need to open our eyes and learn to contemplate it deeply," he explains. Earth is a living organism, also known as the "biosphere," a unique planet in the solar system where all conditions are met to host life. Lucas places life at the heart of his songs, celebrating the collective forces that are resisting to preserve it.
His guitar-and-voice songs, with their bossa nova sounds, blend with organic-sounding percussion, enriched with orchestrations and electronic textures.
The Brazilian composer connects with his French audience by collaborating with Flavia Coelho, Flore Benguigui (from the band L'Impératrice), and saxophonist Laurent Bardainne, even trying his hand at French on one of his tracks. It’s a new festive album that helps us better understand where we live and with whom we share this paradisiacal home.
