La jeune fille et la mort SACD

Description

The LSO String Ensemble is an offshoot of the orchestra of the same name, led by Roman Simovic. Following a very successful recording of Tchaikovsky’s Serenades and Bartók’s Divertimento, the ensemble offers us a thrilling version of Schubert’s Death and the Maiden in the splendid arrangement by Mahler. To complete this recording, another inspired arrangement of Shostakovich’s Quartet No. 8, which, under the inspiration of violist Rudolf Barshai, became the Chamber Symphony in C minor. This performance was recorded live at the Barbican on April 26, 2015.
