With Business And Pleasure, Steve Moore once again explores the world of Lovelock, offering his own interpretation of the library breaks genre, blending gritty groove, funk, and dark lounge music. This ultra-limited vinyl album (500 copies) delivers a sophisticated, cosmic sound where bass, synths, strings, and electric guitars merge into a slow-motion Balearic vibe that is both psychedelic and hypnotic.Recorded in spring and summer 2024, the album combines Moore's home studio in Albany (New York) for most of the instruments, and Jeff Gretz's studio for drums and percussion. The whole is built on a dominant rhythm section, featuring Moore's Rickenbacker 4003 and Fender Jazz Bass, accompanied by Rhodes, Solina and Logan strings, Strat and Les Paul guitars, and even his saxophone.An evolving project since the late 90s, Lovelock has moved from italo-disco to a broader fusion of pop and commercial sounds from the 70s and 80s, while remaining a field of musical experimentation for Moore. The titles and compositions, evocative yet deliberately vague, suggest an immersive sonic journey. The vinyl edition was mastered by Simon Francis, cut by Cicely Balston at Abbey Road Studios, and pressed in the Netherlands by Record Industry.
