LOUIS-JEAN CORMIER, the singer/guitarist of Karkwa, shakes up the codes again with his second solo album, Les Grandes Artères. The man is already a true star in the Belle Province with three Félix awards (the equivalent of our Victoires) and a gold record for each of his albums under his name. Here he is now conquering the Hexagon, armed with thirteen songs crafted to sweep everything in their path. CORMIER has a sharp pen and knows how to tell the anger and dreams of a generation (hard not to guess the Maple Spring behind Lafanfare) but he especially knows how to sculpt a pastoral pop that reminds us he has the same landscapes in front of him as his neighbors from Arcade Fire (listen for example to the superb Si tu reviens). A true pop craftsman's work!
