Los Romeros is an ensemble composed of a father and three sons, the first guitar quartet to achieve worldwide fame on all continents and on all stages.
Between 1962 and 1967, the "royal family of the guitar" recorded for Mercury a repertoire of great musical variety, from Vivaldi to verdiales. Decca presents today the complete recordings of Mercury gathered in a 10CD box set. Beautifully remastered, most of which appear for the first time on CD and digital format. This edition also includes:
• two recordings made in 1960 and released on Contemporary Records, 'Flamenco Fenómeno' and 'Spanish Guitar Music'.
• the booklet includes original sleeve notes written by specialists such as Igor Kipnis,
• a note from Romero specialist Walter Aaron Clark (author of Los Romeros: Royal Family of the Spanish Guitar),
• a presentation by Thomas Fine detailing the history of each of the Mercury recordings,
• the lyrics of the vocal parts,
• the miniature illustrations that adorned the back of the original 33 RPM record sleeves.
