Dante by Thomas Adès - a three-act ballet score based on La Divina Commedia by Dante Alighieri - was recorded by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and its music and artistic director Gustavo Dudamel in concert at Disney Hall for this inaugural recording. Dante was first performed at the Royal Opera House as part of Wayne McGregor’s Dante project for the Royal Ballet, with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and with designs by visual artist Tacita Dean. "In any new shortlist of great ballet scores by Tchaïkovski, Stravinsky, Bartók, Ravel, Prokofiev, Britten and Bernstein, Dante must again be included for its sheer musical invention," exclaims the Los Angeles Times. "There is not a second in its 88 minutes that does not delight. All of it is unexpected and intended." The limited edition two-LP collectible vinyl release includes artwork by Dean and photographs from the Royal Ballet performance. Also available on double CD.
