London O'Connor, a 25-year-old nomadic New Yorker, is a young composer and producer who already demonstrates great mastery and follows in the footsteps of those who succeed in everything they undertake: piano, singing, hip-hop, and probably many other things besides. Les Transmusicales were right to invite him to Rennes in 2015 as one of the year's revelations.
A self-taught artist, the young man produced and recorded OΔ* entirely on his own. This debut album draws inspiration from hip-hop phrasing and electro drum machines, over which he lays a soft and moving voice, reminiscent of Daniel Johnston or Childish Gambino, on a well-balanced hip-hop mixed with old-school pop. Alternating sensuality, candor, and melancholy, London O'Connor's album is both a true emotional rollercoaster and a marvel that never gets old, a debut album oscillating "between tinkered electro and introspective pop."
