Lolita Carabine

Description

Lol was born on November 29, 1958 in Saint-Martin-de-Ré. He arrived in Paris at 17 and quickly found success thanks to his virtuosity as a guitarist. He performed under the name Lolita Carabine, later becoming Lol in groups like Bulldozer in 1977 and then Extraballe in 1978, two avant-garde bands that influenced the French post-punk scene. The years passed and Lol was chosen by Alain Chabat in 1990 to found and lead the orchestra for "Les Nuls l'Émission" in the style of Saturday Night Live, a cult show in the USA. Canal+ gave him free rein to launch an original daily format on the show hosted by Philippe Gildas and Antoine De Caunes, "Nulle Part Ailleurs". Throughout the 1990s, with Jean Louis Bianchina, he created hundreds of musical compositions that punctuated the funny and energetic show. On this legendary set, they accompanied the greatest voices and the greatest musicians: Tom Jones, Ben Harper, Gloria Gaynor, Seal, Tony Joe White, Barry White, Lloyd Cole, Véronique Sanson, William Sheller, Dick Rivers, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Willy Deville, Charlelie Couture, Nino Ferrer, Johnny Hallyday... In 2016, Lol began writing a musical project "Loli Froggi Blues" in which he sings in French and plays guitar. The blues color of his compositions allows him to express himself and highlight his early musical influences where great guitarists played the leading role, not to mention Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters and so many others... Lol then surrounded himself on stage with very good musicians: drummer Enrico Mattioli, American bassist Jay Golden (ex Luther Allison) and keyboardist François Faure. From their first concerts in 2016 at the Caveau Des Oubliettes, the chemistry was self-evident among the four musicians who, quite naturally, followed up with a series of concerts in prestigious venues and halls in the capital: Le Bus Palladium, le Réservoir, la Chapelle des Lombards, New Morning, etc.. The Album "Loli Froggi Blues Live at La Chapelle" was recorded on the label of La Chapelle des Lombards.
