Formed in New York in 1984, the band Living Colour is part of the fusion movement alongside Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fishbone, and Faith No More, blending rock, metal, funk, jazz, and rap. Their debut album *Vivid* in 1988, co-produced by Mick Jagger, propelled them to the top of the charts. On their next album, the band invited Little Richard and Carlos Santana. The founder and guitarist, Vernon Reid, was subsequently in high demand, which gradually eroded the band's cohesion until their separation in 1995. The band reformed in 2001 for a tour, then released their 4th album in 2003. Their last studio album dates from 2009, but in 2016 the band broke its silence with an EP to express their anger against the proliferation of gun violence in the United States. *Shade* is their sixth studio album and promises many surprises!
