With 15 Piano Sonatas, Muzio Clementi appears far beyond the image of a mere pedagogue: virtuoso, publisher, piano maker, and above all a composer who rethinks the instrument from the inside, in the London where industry and art learned to coexist. This selection of fifteen sonatas does not claim to be exhaustive; rather, it traces a path from the composer's early affirmations to the shadows of maturity. One discovers a classicism in motion, where formal clarity coexists with genuine harmonic audacity. The program highlights several essential aspects of his modernity: the dialogue between contrapuntal memory and the new virtuoso idiom, the use of the minor mode as a rhetorical space, the expansion of sonata form beyond its expected symmetries, as well as the close link between musical writing and the technological evolution of the piano.
