The legendary Little Junior Parker is more considered a stylist of R&B with distinct blues tendencies than a true blues artist. He could sing in a style of R&B that was both harder and soulful, then switch to a softer sound sometimes reminiscent of the great Charles Brown, or Bobby "Blue" Bland. But Little Junior Parker insisted on being regarded as a modern bluesman, despite having set aside his harmonica interjections influenced by Sonny Boy Williamson to highlight his smooth and brilliant voice on R&B-style tracks. Although Junior Parker has been on stage since the early 1950s, his first album was not released until 1962. This edition includes the entirety of his first album, Driving Wheel. The exceptional touch and versatility of Little Junior Parker can be heard throughout these tracks, which consist of a beautiful blend of emotional blues, dynamic pieces, electrifying moments, and slow-tempo soul titles. In addition to this original masterpiece, this remastered collector's disc contains 16 bonus tracks, including the cornerstone "Mystery Train," recorded at Sun Studio in October 1953 (a song that would become more famous with Elvis Presley's cover).
