It has been a few years since the two Capuçon brothers recorded together, their careers unfolding harmoniously but separately. This is now a thing of the past, with this new recording under the sign of Saint-Saëns. Renaud Capuçon performs the famous concerto No. 3, with powerful lyricism, and Gautier performs the cello concerto No. 1, immortalized by Rostropovich. The two brothers then come together in La Muse et le Poète, a short and rarely played work; supported by the fervor of the orchestra, the dialogue is sometimes fiery, sometimes contemplative, between the poet (the cello) in search of inspiration, and his muse (the violin). The young and brilliant French conductor Lionel Bringuier (associate conductor of the Los Angeles orchestra, and in 2014 of the Tonhalle orchestra in Zurich) makes his entry with Erato in this recording which will be performed in concert in Paris, Grenoble, and Toulouse.
