La Llorona

« La Llorona » (meaning in French: the Weeper) is the first album by singer Lhasa, released on April 2, 1998. This opus was written in collaboration with her guitarist Yves Desrosiers, who also produced it. It corresponds to Lhasa's need to express and explore her Mexican roots, a country for which she said she felt nostalgia at the time. This album achieved great public success, with over 400,000 copies sold in France and Canada. Furthermore, it reached the 25th position on the French charts upon its release and remained in the charts for a total of 62 weeks. All the drawings as well as the famous album cover are works by Lhasa de Sela.
