L'Étrangleuse is made up of two girls and two boys who play an undefined form of minimalist rock and free song, amplifying the dialogue between a speckled maple pedal harp and a goat-skin djéli n'goni, over the grooves of a bass-drums duo adorned with trinkets. With a fourth album coming in June 2024, L'Étrangleuse dynamites the origins of chamber post-rock with Anne Godefert, a bassist and singer from the electronic music scene, and Léo Dumont, an object drummer known for his sonic boldness (Chromb, Pixvae, An Pagay, Polymorphie…).
