Horloger du rêve

Description

It is no surprise that Bruno Letort teamed up with Schuiten and Peeters... Like the Belgian duo, he has a taste for new architectures, artistic nomadism, and the search for new forms between established genres. This record reflects 15 years of fruitful collaboration between François Schuiten, Benoît Peeters and Bruno Letort. Exhibitions, films, installations, and performances are all opportunities to delight in a singular sonic world. A contemporary musician, current or off the beaten track, Bruno Letort refuses to belong to any particular school. “I have the feeling of living in an extraordinary period of creativity. There has never been so much production, in all possible aesthetics. I see myself as a kind of transistor in this environment.” The phrase is by Stockhausen, but it suits this composer perfectly, who is also the producer on France Musique of Tapage nocturne, a daily program that approaches film, improvised, electronic, minimalist, experimental music, and more, without blinders... This attraction to rhythm is probably what allows Letort to move between learned and popular repertoires, flirting with electronics as a new definition of musical writing. For those who still doubt it, there is life in the margins.
