College of Knowledge Records is proud to announce the self-titled second album from Let Your Hair Down. Let Your Hair Down is a collective of seven soul boogaloo musicians based in Melbourne / Naarm, consisting of Hudson Whitlock (Karate Boogaloo, The Pro-Teens), Lachlan Stuckey (Surprise Chef), Tom Pettit (Temporary Blessings), Nic Ryan-Glenie (Owelu Dreamhouse), Will Morrissey (Saskwatch), Olaf Scott (The Teskey Brothers), and Luigi Portararo. Shortly after the release of their first album, Waiting Room, which has since become a beloved cult classic, the band returned to the now-defunct attic studio where their debut album was recorded to lay down a second opus. Once again under the direction of renowned sound engineer and producer Henry Jenkins (aka Jnbo), this fruitful and joyful weekend session resulted in 11 new original tracks. The hardest part was done. With a cover designed by Let Your Hair Down's drummer, Hudson Whitlock, the self-titled second album from Let Your Hair Down was complete: 11 punchy instrumentals that showcase a minor-key funk with unique accents, psychedelic music driven by percussion, and a brass-dominated boogaloo, crafted by one of the most underground groups in Melbourne's soul scene. Let Your Hair Down captures the full energy of the band: spontaneous and dynamic arrangements performed by a group of top-notch musicians who simply love playing music together. The "having fun, no stress" factor combines with a formidable precision in musicianship and a sensitivity nurtured by musical culture to create an original album of exceptional quality.
