In Jeu de rôles, the first album by the ensemble Les Mondes Baroques, the bass sonatas by Boismortier serve as a guiding thread for a rich sonic journey, where French Baroque meets echoes of folk traditions and exotic influences. Navigating between French and Italian tastes, between learned and popular music, this bold project shapes a true musical Cabinet of Curiosities of the 18th century. Alongside the musicians, soprano Julie Roset is the guest on this album, bringing a luminous vocal touch to several rare or revisited pieces. Inspired by historical accounts and forgotten sources, the ensemble explores Creole airs, dances with Oriental accents, court songs, and rhythms evoking Iroquois drums.
