A fascinating program of sacred choral music by contemporary composers from Russia and the Baltic states. Throughout history and in every age, ancient religious texts have inspired composers, each time finding new ways to express universal emotions about life and death. This new recording contains sacred music, choral music by the renowned Arvo Pärt (Magnificat), Sviridov, Schnittke, Chesnokov and Miskinis. They seek an inner power in their mysterious open harmonies. Founded in 2010 at the initiative of Léo Warynski, the vocal ensemble Les Métaboles brings together young professional singers committed to the a cappella choral repertoire and to works with ensemble. Les Métaboles have already embraced a wide repertoire and have made a name for themselves in concerts in Paris and the regions, in varied and prestigious projects. The ensemble has already collaborated with the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra Les Siècles and the ensemble Hemiolia. The ensemble has notably been invited to the Musicancy festival, the Semaines musicales de Quimper, the Musicales de Normandie, the Estivales Musicales in Paris, the Royaumont musical season and the early music festival of Ribeauvillé. Mécénat Musical Société Générale is a patron of the vocal ensemble Les Métaboles. The vocal ensemble Les Métaboles is a member of FEVIS.
