The album “Sirocco” marks the great return of Hurlements d’Léo, but also that of Erwan “R1 Wallace” Naour to the ranks of the Bordeaux band. Once again a two-headed outfit with Laurent “Kebous” Bousquet, Les Hurlements d’Léo rediscover a new and creative momentum close to their beginnings. For HDL, it all goes back to 1995, when Laurent was still playing in an amateur band and Erwan was strumming away alone in his room. One thing was certain: it was together that they would devote themselves to music, under the name Hurlements d’Léo. Like the VRP song. Unless it was a nod to Wuthering Heights, the novel by the English writer Emily Brontë... Who knows. The VRP were not the only ones to push the duo onto the roads of France and into a borderless world; for our two protagonists, it was obvious: French alternative rock sounds right and allows for every bold move, such as blending genres by adding brass, accordion, and violin. Better still, this music comes with hope and a message. Words that Christophe Miossec, Dominique A and Mano Solo would polish until they restored the letters of nobility still claimed by Les Hurlements d’Léo. So many names and emotions that, 30 years later, lead to the eighth album.
