Description

Sainte Théodosie de Tyr refuses the love of Arsène, son of the governor, because she prefers to devote herself to God: for having offended the powerful, she will endure many torments, which will lead to her death. Alessandro Scarlatti narrates her martyrdom in an oratorio that is sometimes violent, sometimes luminous, and dissects human passions through a striking fresco. Interpreted with talent by the four soloists, Emmanuelle de Negri, Emiliano Gonzalez Toro, Anthea Pichanick, and Renato Dolcini, along with the fiery musicians of Accents directed by the bow of Thibault Noally, this musical drama shakes with its dramatic force and the beauty of the singing.
