Brahms Analogue, Brahms Cello Sonatas 1 & 2, Four Serious Songs, Arr. for Cello & Piano

Description

The recording of Brahms' Cello Sonatas with Leonard Elschenbroich and Alexei Grynyuk was done using analog technology – tape machines, old microphones and longer takes – and was never digitally edited. Elschenbroich wanted to capture a certain sound here: the recording sound of the late 1950s and 1960s was his goal. The result is a wonderfully intimate, warm and clear sound, as if the musicians were actually in the room with the listener – no clinical digital sound, nor bright or superficially impressive.
