Seven months after the death of his father, Adam Cohen withdrew to a garage, at the bottom of Leonard's house, to stay close to his father and his ongoing work. From their previous collaboration on "You Want It Darker," there were bare musical sketches left, sometimes barely worked on. Before his death, Leonard had asked his son to complete his works. This remarkable new album was made in many places and with many collaborations. Javier Mas, the great Spanish musician who accompanied Leonard on stage during the last eight years of touring, flew from Barcelona to Los Angeles to capture the spirit of the artist on Leonard's guitar. Adam invited his friends and peers to lend their ears and talents. Damien Rice and Leslie Feist sang. Richard Reed Parry from Arcade Fire contributed his bass line. Bryce Dessner from The National played guitar, composer Dustin O'Halloran played piano. The Berlin choir Cantus Domus sang alongside the s t a r g a z e orchestra.
