They continue to portray the master composer during the years when his writing for the piano was the most revolutionary and creative: the year 1786. This new double album includes piano concertos No. 23 and 24, the piano quartet in E-flat major, the piano trio in B-flat major, and the recitative and aria Ch’io mi scordi di te? by Mozart, featuring soprano Christiane Karg. Mozart's two piano concertos changed the game in the history of this musical form. They were fueled by the new creative energies of the composer in Vienna in 1786, as he rode an unprecedented wave of popular success and musical evolution. These scores are often considered the most exquisite that Mozart ever wrote. "There was a new creative energy in the air," says Andsnes: "Mozart seems to have deepened the idiom and its possibilities more and more and tried new techniques. I don't know of any music that offers such emotional diversity." The first part of this diptych, Mozart Momentum 1785, was named one of the "best classical albums of 2021" by Gramophone, and Andsnes' interpretation of Piano Concerto No. 22 was chosen as one of the "25 best classical music pieces of 2021" by the New York Times. The album was also named "Album of the Week" by the Sunday Times and BBC Radio 3, and received a Diapason d’Or and a Choc de Classica, while Télérama awarded it 4 Keys, and Radio Classique a Trophée Radio Classique.
