To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the legendary Le Vent du Nord is releasing 20 PRINTEMPS, an 11th album in its career.
Spring is synonymous with rebirth and rejuvenation – all characteristics of a group that, over two decades, has made a name for itself worldwide and has constantly expanded and developed its musical vision.
20 PRINTEMPS is an album that has long matured during a period without tours. An album that allows the group to renew the joy of playing through a carefully selected repertoire of original compositions and traditional songs drawn from personal and national archives.
The dozen tracks allow them to reconnect with their great qualities as arrangers and multi-instrumentalist performers: violin duo, guitar, mandolin, accordion, piano, sublime vocal harmonies, energetic and inventive podorythmy, and hurdy-gurdy that drives the pieces.
Not only considered an incomparable Francophone ambassador, Le Vent du Nord is a driving force in the Quebec progressive folk movement, as well as a leading group in the revival of traditional Quebec music.
Since its founding in 2002, it has experienced a meteoric rise that continues to amaze! It has performed over 2000 concerts on 4 continents, released 10 albums, and received numerous prestigious awards including a GRAND PRIX DU DISQUE CHARLES CROS (France), two JUNO AWARDS (Canada), and was named ARTIST OF THE YEAR at the International Folk Alliance Conference (2004) as well as at the Canadian Folk Music Awards! In 2015, it won a FÉLIX at the ADISQ and in recognition of its international dissemination work, was the first recipient of the PONT TRANSATLANTIQUE Award presented jointly in Marseille, France by BabelMed/Mundial Montréal. More recently, it was honored to receive the Prix Édith Butler (2019) awarded by the Society of Professional Authors-Composers of Quebec (SPACQ) as a Francophone ambassador.
Its qualities as a performer, arranger, and composer as well as its strong stage presence imbued with deep generosity are now recognized on a global scale. Today formed by singers and multi-instrumentalists Nicolas Boulerice, Simon Beaudry, Olivier Demers, and Réjean Brunet, along with André Brunet, the group performs works drawn from the traditional repertoire as well as original compositions. Music that, without a doubt, is very much of its time.
